Rochway MultiplyPLUS Probiotic increases “Natural Killer Cell Activity” by 46%?> The Centre for Phytochemistry and Pharmacology at Southern Cross University (Australia) has completed stage one of a series of tests on Rochway’s “MultiplyPLUS” (Fermented Papaya and Pomegranate). Preliminary in vitro testing of MultiplyPLUS in human blood has shown significant stimulation of natural killer cell cytotoxic activity (NKCA) with an increase of up to 46%, and also granulocyte and monocytes phagocytic activity increases of up to 36 % and 21% respectively compared to baseline controls.
The Oxford Medical dictionary’s definition of NKCA and Phagocytosis :
· Natural Killer Cell Activity (NK cell) is a type of *lymphocyte that is able to kill virus- infected cells and cancerous cells. · Phagocytosis refers to the engulfment and digestion of bacteria and other foreign particles by a cell.

Scientific Name: Papain Other Names: Vegetable pepsin Papain is a proteolytic (protein-reducing) enzyme that is included in oral replacement drugs for individuals who do not produce digestive enzymes naturally. It is also used for digestive conditions such as indigestion. Papain may be taken orally to relieve inflammation and to improve healing. Additionally, it is being studied for relief of cancer therapy side effects, diabetes complications, and rheumatoid arthritis. Papain may be applied to the skin to help burns and other injuries heal.

Fermented papaya preparation is a natural health food that has been commercially sold in Japan for 2 years. It is made by yeast fermentation of Carica Papaya Linn. We examined the antioxidant action of the fermented papaya preparation on free radicals and lipid peroxidation. Free radicals have been related with aging and diseases, such as cancer, diabetes and especially in neurological disorders, for example, Parkinson's disease or Alzheimer's disease.
