Why papaya? (Carica Papaya Linn)

Papaya is a tropical fruit which has long been recognised for its health giving properties. Papayas are rich in papain, a protein digesting enzyme that offers enormous benefits to digestive health. As digestive health and immunity decline as we age, papayas have been recognised as an excellent anti-ageing fruit. Green papayas are natural cleansers as the high concentration of enzymes can dissolve debris, mucus and old tissue. They are also rich in vitamins C and A, important antioxidant nutrients. The enzyme, vitamin and phyto-rich nutrients of the fruit and leaves supports immune function and can assist in the maintenance of a healthy immune system.

What are the benefits of papaya?

Called the ‘fruit of the angels’ by Christopher Columbus, papayas are native to central America and have long been revered by the American Indian populations in that area. The papaya is a nutritional powerhouse, containing the anti-oxidant vitamins C and E, and well as high concentrations of folic acid and potassium. Papayas are high in fibre, magnesium, and the carotenes. Papayas contain papain, a digestive enzyme which can aid in the digestion of proteins.

Due to their unique and dynamic nutritional profile, papayas are also known for their anti-inflammatory effects, immune supporting properties, maintenance of heart health, maintenance of healthy eyes, vision and maintenance of our respiratory system.

What is fermented papaya?

It is a highly concentrated mature green papaya fruit, fermented over several months and then dried. It contains a broad spectrum of important amino acids, phyto nutrients and the powerful protein digesting enzyme, papain. It is naturally rich in lactobacillus acidophilus, a gut friendly bacteria.

The fermentation process transforms the papaya fruit by a process of pre-digestion which breaks down nutrients into the simpler forms. This supports digestion, promotes healthy flora in our digestive tract, produces beneficial enzymes and helps us to absorb nutrients more efficiently from our food. A healthy digestive system is fundamental in supporting our overall health and particularly our immune system. Fermented Papaya has been found to support the immune and antioxidant systems.

Free radicals in excess cause oxidation of cell membranes and tissues. Fermented papaya supports our built-in antioxidant systems which maintain the right balance of free radicals within the body.

What is the fermentation process?

Fermented papaya, the main ingredient in Papaya 35, is produced by the fermentation of green papaya – the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats and proteins by yeast under special conditions – over an eight-month period. Once fermented, the papaya is dried and ground into a fine powder.

What does pomegranate do?

Pomegranate juice benefits your heart and arteries in a few different ways. It protects them by improving blood flow. It prevents your arteries from hardening and becoming inflexible. Pomegranate juice may help to lower the blood pressure of people suffering from high blood pressure (hypertension).

A University of Naples study has shown that pomegranate juice can prevent atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries, which is a serious form of heart disease.

Can pregnant women use the products?

Although all our products are natural, we advise our customers to speak with their health professional before taking new supplements when pregnant or breastfeeding.

What is the difference between the capsules and the liquid?

The liquid is absorbed faster but the capsules are handy for travelling and has the “one capsule a day” formula.

Why do some of the products have a bitter taste?

This is because of the natural fermentation process, similar to apple cider vinegar.

When is the use by date?

The products are shelf stable with a used by date of two years after the date of manufacturing.

Can vegetarians and vegans use these products?
